Artist Statement: Since beginning my work as an illustrator and cartoonist in 2015, I’ve been drawn to capturing the people and places that make up the queer community—particularly scenes of love and connection. As queer people, the places where we can gather safely and joyfully to express ourselves are critically important—whether a bar, a park, a street, or a community centre like The 519. These spaces don't just happen—they are the result of the continued work of so many in our community and we can’t take them for granted. My hope is that these four images honour those people, the places they have fostered, and the meaning that queer people bring to those places each and every day.
